Recreational Camps for Children

In Massachusetts, recreational camps for children must be inspected and licensed by the local board of health in the city or town where the camp is located.  However, it is the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) that have established minimum health, safety, sanitary, and housing standards that we, as the local health department, must inspect by.

View the State's Minimum Standards for Recreational Camps for Children regulation.

Although there are a few exceptions to the definition of "camp", it is very likely that the summer camp your child attends is permitted and inspected by the local Health Department.

Have questions about your child's summer camp?  MDPH has provided resources for parents.  Visit the Information for Parents on the State's website to learn more or reach out to the Foxborough Health Department at (508) 543-1207.
