Help Update Foxborough's Water Service Line Inventory:
The Foxborough Water & Sewer Division needs your help! We’re working to inventory all water service lines to identify any containing lead materials. While we haven’t found any full or partial lead service lines so far, state and federal guidelines require us to confirm this for every property.
You can assist by identifying your service line material using the SeeClickFix tool. Simply take a photo of the pipe leading to your water meter and follow the steps to submit your information. This effort will help reduce the number of in-person inspections needed for our 6,000 service lines.

For questions or to schedule an inspection, contact Superintendent Bob Worthley at (508) 543-1209. Thank you for helping keep Foxborough’s water safe and lead-free!

You can either download the SeeClickFix app on your phone, or use the SeeClickFix page on our website. If you choose to use the website version, you will have the option to upload your service line materials without making an account.
Update:
It is Federally mandated that water departments verify all service line materials. The mandate was partially inspired by the lead contamination crisis in Flint Michigan.
With thousands of service lines to verify, the most efficient verification method is by utilizing the SeeClickFix tool, where a homeowner can enter their address, and take a photo of the pipe leading from where it enters the home, to the water meter.
See the image below for an example of a service pipe going to a water meter. This is a new style water, older types will look slightly different, but will still be connected to the service pipe.
This mandated program is in place to identify any lead pipes, and to notify the resident of their presence. The EPA has determined that there is no safe level of lead.
The resident is responsible for the portion of the service line from a valve, known as a curb stop, that is usually located at the property line, to the water meter.
If the resident is notified that their service line is lead, it would be their responsibility to change it to a safer material, if they choose to.
