TRAVEL WITH US ON THE FOLIAGE TURKEY TRAIN TOUR

Join us for the perfect Foliage Day Trip to Meredith, NH on Wednesday, Oct. 9.  We will be leaving Foxborough at 9:30 a.m. from the side parking lot of St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street. We will begin our day with a beautiful scenic drive up north where we will board the Winnipesaukee Turkey Train at the Hobo Railroad. This 2-hour scenic train ride includes a delicious full turkey dinner complete with all the fixin's! This exceptional turkey meal is provided by Hart's Turkey Farm.  Following the lunch train excursion we'll board the motorcoach and head to Moulton Farm, in the heart of the Lakes Region. Browse their farm stand, garden center or pick up a treat in their bakery. Registration for Foxborough residents begins at noon on March 14, and registration for non-residents begins at noon on March 21.  The cost is $140 for Foxborough residents and $145 for non-residents, and must be paid at the time of registration. We were able to reserve 2 buses this year, so join your friends for a fun day and a great meal!

 

ARE YOU OLYMPIC READY?

As our 2024 Senior Olympics quickly approaches, come learn about each individual activity on Wednesday, March 27 at 2 p.m. Learn how you can be ready to earn a gold medal this year.  There will also be a time for a Q/A session before you turn in your Olympic Registration Form.  Be sure to sign up to learn about this year's upcoming Senior Olympics! Sign up in advance and we'll save you a seat for this program.

 

TALKS-BOROUGH - "A GLIMPSE INTO YESTERDAY"

Join us for our next "Talks-borough" program on Tuesday, March 26 at 3:45 p.m. with Rev. Bill Dudley.  Do you recall the days of doctors making house calls, or answering their office phones themselves?  Come join Bill Dudley, a local pastor, who grew up with an amazing true country doctor who had many patients right here in Foxborough.  Dr. Walter Griffin of Sharon took the first x-ray ever taken at Norwood Hospital, taught for Harvard University and practiced medicine for 75 years!  Bill will tell you, though he has studied under world famous scholars, Dr. Griffin was the most amazing man he has every met.  Return to a time less formal,

when doctors were local humanitarians, through the story of this inspiring man.  Please sign up in advance.

 

MAH JONGG TOURNAMENT

Join us for our 2nd Annual Mah Jongg Tournament on Friday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  One year of playing experience is recommended but not required.  We will be using the 2023NMJL card.  Please bring yours with you. Points will be based on NMJL scoring.  Some additional penalty points may apply.  Rules will be available for consulting at the Director's table.  Simplified table rotation plan at the end of each round.  We sincerely value the quality and nature of our tournament played in a gracious and courteous manner and want to promote friendship.  Pizza lunch will be included. Please register by emailing [email protected], or by visiting David Lescoe at the senior center on Tuesday afternoons.  The cost is $10 per person when you pre-register or $15 at the door.

 

50 YEARS PUBLISHING

The presentation "50 Years Publishing" by author Henry Quinlan is a collection of stories from notable people that Henry has encountered along his 50 year journey of publishing. Join Henry on Tuesday, March 19 at 3:45 p.m. as he recalls his meeting with politicians (Ted Kennedy, George H. W. Bush), celebrities (Anderson Cooper, Leiv Schreibner), and many more!  Please sign up in advance.

 

RICK STEEVES - BEST OF IRELAND

On Monday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. we will begin getting ready for our group trip to Ireland in June by enjoying a selection of Rick Steve's Ireland tour videos. Join your fellow travelers while enjoying a selection of treats. Sign up in advance to reserve your seat and get in the mood for a trip to the Emerald Isle.


APR BALANCE AND STRENGTH

Balance and strength training has a range of benefits, with avoiding injuries being at the top of the list. Join the staff from Accelerated Performance Rehabilitation at the senior center on Tuesday, March 19 at 11:45 a.m. for a discussion on the benefits of balance and strength training while they provide a light lunch. ABIGAIL WHITNEY AND OTHER HEROINES OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR

Abigail Whitney and her family witnessed British soldiers march by their home on the Bay Road in Concord, Massachusetts early in the morning of the 19th of April 1775, the beginning of the American Revolution. Join us at the senior center on Wednesday, March 13 at 4 p.m. for the historical presentation "Abigail by Gail: A Colonial Experience" when we will have a chance to consider what life was like for some of America's most famous Heroines of the American Revolution.  Gain a better understanding of how these women maintained their family responsibilities while having a significant impact on the outcome of important events for America. Be sure to sign up in advance to reserve your seat.

 

MARCH MOVIE DAYS

The subject for March's Movie Days is "Tom Hanks."  The movies will be shown on the following Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 p.m.:

March 12 - "Greyhound" - U.S.  Navel Cmdr. Ernest Krause (Hanks) is assigned to lead an Allied convoy across the Atlantic during World War II.  His convoy, however, is pursued by German U-boats.  Although this is Krause's first wartime mission, he finds himself embroiled in what would come to be known as the longest, largest and most complex naval battle in history " the Battle of the Atlantic."

March 26 - "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" - Lloyd Vogel is an investigative journalist who receives an assignment to profile Fred Rogers aka "Mr. Rogers" (Hanks).  He approaches the interview with skepticism as he finds it hard to believe that anyone can have such a good nature.  But Roger's empathy, kindness and decency soon chips away Vogel's jaded outlook on life, forcing the reporter to reconcile with his own painful past. FOOTCARE FOR SENIORS

Keeping feet in good condition is essential for effective functioning, promoting leg strength, and reducing falls. Foot Care Nurse Ami, is returning to our senior center on the 2nd Friday of every month to hold 20 minute footcare appointments.  This service will include assessment, nail clipping and filing, corn and callous reduction and a light foot massage.  The next clinic date will be held on April 12 starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $36 and must be paid in advance when you schedule your appointment. 

 

MEDICARE 101

On Wednesday, March 20 at 2 p.m., there will be a presentation by MGH Brigham Health Plan that will explain the different options for those aging into Medicare. Sign up if you'd like to join us for this informative program.

 

GREET AND SWEETS

On Wednesday, March 20 at 4 p.m., join an exclusive gathering hosted by the Sue Marshall Realty Team, Mimi's Choice Care Management, Radius Financial and the Law Office of Kathleen Keaveny.  This comprehensive service consortium extends a warm invitation for you and your family members to acquaint yourselves with the extensive array of services we provide.  Our collective objective is to contribute positively to the community.  Light refreshments and delectable treats will be served.  Be sure to sign up if you'd like to join us.

 

 VANGO DISCOVERY CLUB

The VanGo Discovery Club will provide an opportunity to venture out and explore a new (or familiar) location.  Registrants will travel using the VanGo for an independent, self-guided exploration for 3-4 hours. Park your car at the Booth Playground (80 South Street) by 10 a.m. where you will board the van. Registration for Foxboro residents has begun. Registration for non-residents will begin on March 14. The cost for the trip is $12 per person, plus additional entry fees at certain locations.  The Wednesday trip schedule is as follows: May 8 - Falmouth; May 22 - Castle Island; June 5 - Sam Slater Experience ($10 entry fee); June 26 - Heritage Museum ($18 entry fee); July 10 - Wickford Village; July 24 - JFK Library  ($12 entry fee); August 7 - Plymouth; August 21 - Nantasket Beach; September 11 - Borderland State Park; September 25 - Kowloon, and; Hoxie Hill & Grist Mill ($12 entry fee).  Please sign up with your payment for specific Discovery Club trips.

 

CAPE COD LUNCH TRAIN TOUR

Join the Foxborough seniors on Wednesday, June 12 for a scenic ride to Hyannis, MA where we will board the Colonial Lunch Train for a 2 hour Cape Cod journey and a 3 course meal! We will leave Foxborough by motorcoach at 9:15 a.m. from the side parking lot of St. Mary's Church at 58 Carpenter Street. While onboard, we will be treated to expertly prepared food served with white linen class while we enjoy a mid-day escape on a relaxing train ride.  Your meal choice is Pistachio Crusted Cod, Baked Chicken Florentine, Vegetable Noodles or Cape Cod Central's Turkey Sandwich. Each meal is accompanied by Sagamore Signature Scallop and Bacon Chowder, coffee/tea with Chef's choice dessert. Following our excursion, we will head to Hyannis for exploring and shopping on your own.. The cost is $151 per person for Foxboro residents and $156 per person for non-residents.  Registration with your payment has begun, so sign up to reserve your seat.

 

DAY TRIP ON THE ESSEX STEAM TRAIN & RIVERBOAT

All Aboard!! Join us on a special Rail & Sail trip to Essex, Connecticut on Thursday, Aug. 15. We will be leaving from the side parking lot of St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, at 9 a.m. Upon arrival at the Essex Station, we will board the steam train where we will enjoy lunch on board a dining car while we take a scenic train excursion through the beautiful countryside.  For lunch, you have a choice of Braised Beef with carrots, celery & red wine, Mushroom Asiago Chicken or Baked Ziti with ricotta & fresh mozzarella. The train travels along the Connecticut River to Deep River.  Upon arrival at the Deep River Station we will board the Riverboat for a relaxing ride along the Connecticut River. The cost for this trip is $155 for Foxboro residents and $165 for non-residents.  Registration for Foxboro residents with payment & meal choice will begin at noon on February 29, and non-resident registration with payment & meal choice will begin at noon on March 7.

 

LOST BOSTON

Lost Boston traces the cherished places in a city that time, progress and fashion have swept aside before concerned citizens or the National Register of Historic Places could save them from the wrecker's ball or the graveyard of history.  Join us on Tuesday, March 12 at 3:45 p.m. when author/historian Anthony Sammarco will be at the senior center for his "Lost Boston" program which will feature much-loved institutions including: Franklin Place, Boston Coliseum, Haymarket Square, Molasses Tank, East Boston Airport, Braves Field, The Howard Athenaeum and much more. LEAH'S ART CORNER

Join Leah Snow on a journey of arts and creation!  Leah's art classes include all supplies and tutorials as you create something for your home. On Monday, March 18 at 11 a.m. Leah's class will involve painting on glass.  Please bring in an empty wine bottle, or whatever glass surface you would like to decorate. If you wish to work on a felting project, you can choose to work on felting instead. Please sign up in advance to let us know if you'll be joining us.


FRIENDS' BINGO - BRING A FRIEND - ALL ARE WELCOME

Come and join us for Bingo at the senior center on Tuesday, April 2 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and every 1st Tuesday of the month.  Win cash prizes in varying amounts. There is a nominal fee of $1 per card.  Bring a friend!  Call to sign up. This program is hosted by the Friends of Foxboro Seniors.

 

VETERANS CLUB

The mission of the Veterans Club is to create a listening session around veterans and their stories to ensure that this living history will never be forgotten.  The Veterans Club meets at the senior center on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 2:30 p.m. The next Monday meetings will be on April 1 & 15.  Sign up in advance if you'd like to join us.

 

Q/A WITH THE TOWN MANAGER

Town Manager Paige Duncan will be at the senior center for some coffee and conversation each month on a new day and time. In February, she will be joining us on Monday, March 25 at 11 a.m. Paige will now be with us at the senior center on the 4th Monday of every month at 11 a.m. and she will keep us up to date on what's going on in Foxborough.   This is a great opportunity for you to join in the conversation and get your questions answered. THE 1619 PROJECT

The senior center will be showing the six-part Hulu docuseries, "The 1619 Project," on the following Fridays at 10:30 a.m.: Feb. 23, March 1, 8, 15, 29 & April 5. The 1619 Project seeks to reframe the country's history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the very center of our cultural narrative. Sign up in advance if you'd like to join us.

 

TRIP TO THE NEWPORT PLAYHOUSE IN 2024

Join us as we travel once again to the Newport Playhouse on Thursday, April 11, 2024.  We'll travel by motorcoach and leave from St. Mary's Church parking lot, 58 Carpenter Street, at 9:30 a.m.  This favorite trip location includes an extensive buffet lunch, which includes a large variety of hot and cold foods, main entrees, side dishes, beverages and homemade desserts.  Following lunch, we will all see the comedic play, "The Ladies Foursome," in the playhouse theater, and we end our day with a fun-filled cabaret performance.  The cost for this day trip is $145 for Foxboro residents, and $155 for non-residents. Registration with payment has begun.  Don't miss out on this entertaining trip filled with lots of food and lots of laughs!

 

VISIT THE ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM WITH LUNCH AT THE VENEZIA

On Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m. we will be leaving Foxborough from St. Mary's Church parking lot at 58 Carpenter and traveling to Boston.  We will start our day with an amazing lunch at the Venezia Restaurant where you will have your choice of Baked Haddock, Chicken Parmigiana or Pasta Primavera for lunch.  Then we are off to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for a self-guided tour.  This museum first welcomed visitors on New Year's Day in 1903 and opened as a place to celebrate art, music and horticulture.  The museum became world famous in 1990 when 13 pieces of art were stolen.  This became the largest art theft in the world. The museum houses one of the nation's finest collections of art, and there are 3 floors of galleries that surround a garden courtyard blooming with life in all seasons.  The museum is filled with paintings, sculpture, tapestries, furniture, and decorative arts from cultures spanning 30 centuries.  The cost is $128 per person for Foxborough residents and $133 for non-residents. Registration for this trip has begun.

 

ENCORE CASINO TRIP

If you would like to join us at New England's newest casino, we have just a couple of seats left.  We'll be traveling by motorcoach to the Encore Casino on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 9 a.m.  Try your luck with 2800+ slot machines, including classic favorites, automated tables, and the newest game tiles.  Also enjoy 166 different table games. Each attendee will receive $20 in free slot play.  The cost is $39 for Foxborough residents and $42 for non-residents. Registration for this trip has begun and payment is due at the time of registration.

 

FASCIA TRAINING II

Steve Avellino's next Monday morning program will be "Fascia Training II for Seniors" and will run on the following six Mondays at 11:45 a.m.: March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1 & 8. This 6-week program is designed to continue and to build upon our study and work with fascia (connective tissue in our body). We will continue with fascial line activation and rejuvenation, but we will also add movements to try to regain some of the elasticity of our fascia. This program is facilitated by Steve Avellino, EFT, CES, SSF, SSN, CSCS, CET, and the cost is $42 per person.  Sign up in advance with your payment.

 

BOOK CLUB

Our senior center Book Club will be meeting on Monday, April 1 at 11 a.m.  This program, led by Library Director Libby O'Neill, is designed for seniors who love to read and discuss books.  If you are interested in taking part in the Book Club, please sign up in advance.

 

SENIOR WOMEN'S DISCUSSION GROUP

Ladies, join us on the 2nd Monday of each month at 11 a.m. for our Senior Women's Discussion Group. The next meeting will be on Monday, March 11 at 11 a.m. It's time to gather and discuss the joys and challenges of aging, both physically and emotionally, our experiences as we evolve into this chapter of our lives, what our "happy place" is and many other topics of interest.  Collectively, we share our wisdom and the perspective we have gained over the course of our lives in a safe non-judgmental place. This group is facilitated by former Taylor School teacher, Marilyn Goldman. Sign up if you'd like to join us.

 

FOXBOROUGH MEMORY CAFE

The Foxborough Memory Cafe is a welcoming place for individuals, families and friends of those living with memory changes. Join us on Tuesday, March 19, and the third Tuesday of each month, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for our Memory Cafe at the Foxborough Senior Center. Join us for live music, come listen, sing along, tap your feet and enjoy. HAIR STYLING

Would you like to get your hair cut and styled in the comfort of the Foxborough Senior Center? Hair Stylist Laurie Nicklas is at the senior center every 4th Friday of each month, from 10 a.m. to noon.  The cost per person is $15 for women and men. Laurie will be at the senior center on Friday, March 22. Sign up with your payment in advance to schedule an appointment.

 

KRIPALU YOGA

Yoga is the union between body, mind and spirit.  Join us for an 8-week Kripalu Yoga class led by Lisa Cohen on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m.  Everyone is welcome just as they are on their own personal journey towards greater non-judgmental self-awareness.  There are no fitness pre-requisites to be able to develop a very meaningful and effective yoga practice, however, participants should be comfortable on the ground for an extended period of time with a yoga mat.  The cost is $53 per person and the classes will meet at 12:15 p.m. on the following Thursdays: Feb. 29, March 7, 14, 28, April 7, 11, May 2 & 9.  Please sign up in advance with your payment.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC

Blood Pressure Clinics are available at the senior center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. by appointment.  The next clinics in March will be held on March 12 & 26.  Please call the senior center at 508-543-1234 to set up an appointment.

 

LUNCHEON OUTING

Our next luncheon outing will be on Wednesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Conrad's Restaurant in Foxborough.  Call us to sign up by Monday, March 18 and meet us at the restaurant on the 2oth.  For those who require van transportation, arrangements must be made by Monday the 18th.

 

MARCH SENIOR SUPPER

Our Monthly Senior Supper program focuses on a unique high quality catered mean.  Join us for an evening out with friends on Wednesday, March 27 when we will be serving Chicken, Broccoli & Zita. The program will start at 4 p.m. and food will be served around 4:30. The cost is $8 per person and must be paid in advance when you sign up.

 

MEN'S BREAKFAST

We are holding a monthly Men's Breakfast during the winter months.  Come enjoy a great breakfast of scrambled eggs, breakfast sausages and potatoes with friends on Thursday, March 28 at 8:45 a.m.  The cost is $3 per person.  Please sign up in advance with your payment. 

 

LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER

Left, Right, Center, or LRC, is a simple, yet very fun game.  There is no skill needed to enjoy playing and it's an opportunity to meet new friends.  If you have never heard of this game, it is VERY easy to play. Join us starting Wednesday, March 13 at 1:15 p.m., and continuing monthly every 2nd Wednesday at 1:15. Please sign up in advance.

 

CARD MAKING CLASS

Are you a crafty person?  Are you interested in learning a new skill?  Helen Rice is hosting her famous card making class at the senior center on Thursday, March 14 at 2 p.m. and every 2nd Thursday of the month.  All supplies are included, and at the end of the class, you will have a beautiful handmade card for a future event! Please sign up to let us know you'll be joining us.

 

CRAFT WITH TRACY

Join Tracy Rozak at the senior center on Tuesday, March 12 at 11 a.m.as she leads the group in making a fun seasonal craft.  This program is free and all supplies are included.  Please sign up in advance to save your seat.

 

HEARING HEALTH

On Wednesdays, March 6 & 13 there are Hearing Clinics offered at the senior center from 1 to 3 p.m.  This program is free and provides a hearing screening, ear wax removal, hearing aid cleaning and service by appointment. Call in advance to schedule a 20 minute appointment.

 

1 ON 1 TECH SUPPORT

Join us on Monday mornings from 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for our 1 On 1 Tech Support Program.  During your 1 on 1 individualized tech support appointment, you will be able to get answers relating to phones, tablets or computers.  Examples include troubleshooting, setting up a device, and other "how to" questions.  Call us to set up an appointment.

 

REPRESENTATIVE JAY BARROWS OFFICE HOUR

Join Representative Jay Barrows at the senior center on Tuesday, March 26 from 9 to 10 a.m. for a group discussion as well as question and answer session.  Representative Barrows will be at the senior center on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m.  Sign up in advance.

 

MEN'S FITNESS CLASSES

The 6-week Men's Fitness program is designed to help senior males move and feel better.  We combine fitness with corrective exercise to alleviate joint pain and promote better mobility.  This program is facilitated by Steve Avellino CFT, CES, SSF, SSN and the next session of classes with be held on the following Thursdays: March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4 &11.  Due to the popularity of this program, there are now 2 Men?s Fitness Classes offered on Thursdays. The first class runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the 2nd class runs from 11 a.m. to noon. The cost is $42 per person and must be paid at the time you sign up for one of the classes.

 

THEATER WORKSHOPS

Every Wednesday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., our Theater Workshop meets at the senior center.  Learn character portrayal by reading scripts (mostly comedy).  This fun workshop is led by Evie Rayburg and Jeanne Bonneau, and does NOT require memorization, costumes or production.  Please sign up in advance.

 

SERENADING SENIORS CHORUS

The "Serenading Seniors" is a friendly, fun group of singers who meet weekly at the senior center for rehearsals and occasional performances at local venues.  This group meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Currently, membership is at capacity, but if you are interested in joining us, please call the senior center to get on a waiting list. For more information, the senior center can put you in touch with the Choral Director.

 

REFLEXOLOGY 

On Friday, March 15, and on the 3rd Friday of each month, the senior center is offering reflexology appointments from 9 a.m. to noon.  Reflexology is based on stimulating specific points on the feet that correspond to other areas and organs of the body.  Reflexology is used to restore the body's natural equilibrium by improving circulation and reducing tension. This relaxing and rejuvenating experience will involve aromatherapy infused reflexology.  The cost is $45 per half hour appointment.  Sign up with your payment to schedule an appointment.

 

LOW VISION SUPPORT GROUP

The Low Vision Support Group will be meeting on Thursday, March 21 1 to 2 p.m.  This adult group provides peer support and information for anyone with vision loss or those who have concerns about their vision.  If you are interested in participating, please check with Pam McGuire by calling 508-543-1234.

 

TRAVELING TO IRELAND IN 2024

On June 22 to July 1, 2024, we will be traveling on a 10 day/9 night trip to Ireland.  We'll be starting off in Dublin and traveling on to Kilkenny, Waterford, Killarney, Limerick and Galway.  Along the way we'll be visiting the Blarney Stone, Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher, ending the trip with an overnight stay on the stately grounds of Cabra Castle.  The cost is $4,129 per person/double, $4,729 per single, and $4,099 per person/triple. Registration for this trip has begun. Trip flyers with all the travel details are available at the senior center or can be emailed to you upon request. We have started a "wait list" for this trip, so please let us know if you are interested and would like to be added to that list.

 

ORGANIZED PICKLEBALL TIME FOR SENIORS

Foxborough's new Pickleball courts on Payson Road have been reserved for use by seniors on Friday mornings between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  If seniors would like to play Pickleball at the new courts, please call the senior center at 508-543-1234 to sign up in advance.

 

CHESS

Calling all Chess players!  On Friday mornings, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., come to the senior center and have fun playing chess with new friends while competing in this strategic board game while enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut. Please sign up in advance to let us know you'll be joining us.

 

TABLE TOP GARDEN CLUB

Our Table Top Garden Club, under the direction of Marsha Lewicke, will resume meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. in anticipation of spring. Everyone is welcome, no previous gardening experience is necessary. 

 

SENIOR SANDWICHES

On Thursdays, we offer Grab and Go Senior Sandwiches at the senior center. You can pick up your sandwich at the front desk on Thursdays at any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and you can take the sandwich with you, or you are welcome to eat in the Coffee Room or on the outside benches. Quantities are limited, so you MUST sign up in advance to get your Senior Sandwich meal. There is a suggested donation of $3 to HESSCO.

 

CRAFT GROUP

It's time to work on your crafts in a group setting with friends.  Join us at the senior center on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.  If you'd like to participate, bring your craft to work on, such as knitting, embroidering, cross stitching, beading, diamonding, hand quilting or whatever small craft you may choose.  This group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m., except for the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Sign up in advance.

 

SELF DEFENSE CLASSES

Every Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m., our Tai Chi Instructor Elijah Swain will be providing a weekly self-defense class for seniors who are looking for the basics to protect themselves against potential threats.  The cost is $4 per class and is punch card eligible.

 

EARLY BEGINNER MAH JONGG

The Early Beginner Mah Jongg program meets at the senior center every Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., except for the 1st Tuesday of each month. This early beginner Mah Jongg free play group is for players who have only just recently started learning and may want to take each game a little slower than those who have played Mah Jongg for many years.  Sign up and let us know you'll be joining us.

 

BRIDGE LESSONS

Bridge is a card game that is played all over the world, in person and online.  Bridge lessons at the senior center, with instructor Sunil Trivedi, will now be held on Tuesdays at the NEW time of 11:30 a.m.  This program will introduce new players to this international card game.  Please sign up if you'd like to join us.

 

MAH JONGG FREE PLAY

Mah Jongg Free Play meets every Wednesday from 12:30 to 3 p.m.  Sign up in advance if you'd like to join us.

 

TAI CHI

Start your day with the peaceful meditation and movement of Tai Chi led by instructor Elijah Swain on Tuesday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.  Elijah is a 9th Degree black belt and owns the Tai Jing Academy. The cost is $4 per class and is punch card eligible.  Thank you to the Friends of Foxboro Seniors for helping to fund this program. 

 

CHAIR YOGA

Chair Yoga classes are held at the senior center every Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. under the direction of Lisa Cohen. Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done while sitting in a chair or while standing and using the chair for support. The cost for this class is $4 and is punch card eligible.  Due to limited space, you must call in advance to register for the class.

 

ZUMBA GOLD

Zumba is a fitness program inspired by Latin Dance.  Zumba combines Latin rhythms with cardiovascular exercise to create an aerobic tine that is fun and easy to follow.  Join us on Tuesday mornings at 9:45 a.m.  The cost is $4 per class and is punch card eligible.  Space is limited, so please call in advance to sign up for each class.

 

SCRABBLE

Do you enjoy playing a game of Scrabble or would you like to learn how to play?  We have a Scrabble group that meets on Monday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. at the senior center.  Challenge your mind, enjoy some time with friends and have lots of fun.  If you're interested in playing, call us to sign up.

 

STRENGTH TRAINING

Our Strength Training classes are held every Wednesday morning at 8:45 a.m.  Each week this program features stretching routines and exercises that focus on the core, legs, arms and shoulders. The cost is $4 per class and is punch card eligible.

 

SENIOR FITNESS

Join is for our Senior Fitness classes on Friday mornings at 8:45 a.m.  This class uses stretching, aerobics and hand-held weights, to focus on exercising the body from the neck to the ankles.  Senior Fitness is designed for all levels of fitness. The cost is $4 per class and is punch card eligible.

 

KNITTING

Our knitting group meets at 1 p.m. at the senior center every Monday afternoon. This group loves to gather and chat, knit, and even do some crocheting, if you so choose.  Everyone is welcome to attend, just bring your knitting project to work on.  Please sign up in advance.

 

SALT FOR SENIORS

Each winter, for the past 25 years, the Foxboro Jaycees have offered the "Salt for Seniors" public service to our seniors.  Foxborough senior citizens who are in need of salt for the winter months may get a bucketful of salt delivered to their door for free!  If you are interested in this service, call the Jaycees at 508-203-1527 or email [email protected]
